Interesting

It was an intersting story, though as I read it I hoped to see the other characters develop as well. The plot line was alert and I could follow the story easily, but I would have wanted to see the subplots develop a bit more as well. I found the ending a bit too short. Time skipped a bit too fast for my own taste, but it will probaby be enjoyed by others. I'll probably get the other books too, since they develop the secondary chars. All in all, a good book.

Kindara and Rathan

With this fifth book in the Dardanos series we get to see things evolving in the story line a little further. New characters are introduced and new dangers emerge. I've admired Kindara's kind compassionate nature and her no nonsense attitude from the first book. I loved seeing that she has the chance at all that she thought lost to her. Rathan is pushy and arrogant and makes me laugh. I was impressed that as soon as he hears the truth he does a one eighty on his behavior. He states repeatedly the he/they were wrong. He is so solicitous toward Jiearra and especially Kindara. He definitely has a hard time with the word "no" though.

This story continues to expand on the people involved in this series. At the same time each book gives us a little glimpse into another's story. I like the indict stories with a common theme running through them...who is challenging the king? Still an enjoyable read...

About the Author

Richard Webster was born and raised in New Zealand. He has been interested in the psychic world since he was nine years old. As a teenager, he became involved in hypnotism and later became a professional stage hypnotist. After school, he worked in the publishing business and purchased a bookstore. Not Impressed

This is not a terrible book, but there are much better books to learn OpenGL. My favorites are "OpenGL Distilled" and "OpenGL Super Bible".

This book does provide some simple applications of OpenGL that the other books don't. Image Processing, Edge detection, curve fitting, fractals, etc.

There is source code available on the Springer web-site. The examples are mostly C and GLUT. This is not great code, but small simple examples to illustrate the applications from the book. Though much of the code is somewhat Windows centric, I was able to compile and build the projects on my Mac without much difficulty. In the end the results and time spent didn't seem to be worth the effort.

This is a great book for children even up to 12 years old

This is a great book for children even up to 12 years old, I know the author personally and know his heart God uses Ray in a way to help adults easily explain who God is in terms they will understand using scripture they will understand at an early age! This is one book that will help them see how precious they are in God's eyes! It is a book you can snuggle under the blankets with your children, or just take you back a bit to remind us of the child like faith God would love us to have! You will not be disappointed in this book, be the frog!

God loves you just the way you are!

This a beautifully written and illustrated book. Frog is given a special assignment by God to tell his forest friends how much He loves them, and how they are each uniquely and wonderfully made. Sure to be loved by both children and the adults who read the book to them. And I suspect the adults may learn a few nuggets themselves.

Wonderful Short Story by the Talented Ms Meyer

In my opinion, this was the best entry in the Twilight series. Set in the weeks before the big fight in Eclipse, it tells the story of newborn vampire Bree Tanner, a former runaway with no place to go. As a vampire she is disgusted by some of the behavior of her peers and does her best to quietly blend in and avoid trouble. For a while she does well at this, thanks to the repelling powers of Freaky Fred, another vampire, dubbed so by his vampire peers who are repulsed by him. However, while out hunting she eventually attracts the attention of Diego, another newborn vampire who has retained some of his human qualities. He likes Bree and the two of them spend a blissful day learning about each other and about their new existence as vampires. Together they learn that sunlight is not dangerous to vampires as they had believed and decide to share this information with their coven leader, Riley. Unfortunately, as they soon find out, this knowledge is dangerous.

Their romance is quick and fleeting and ultimately doomed but it is charming and cute while it lasts. Bree is a fascinating character with layer after layer, like an onion that is slowly peeled back. Diego is also interesting but before we can learn much about him he is gone. And then there is Fred, whose powers of repulsive magnetism served as a shield for both himself and Bree. Unfortunately for Bree, Fred decides to go off on his own, rebelling against Riley who wants to lead them into a fight against the Cullen coven. Fred doesn't trust Riley and asks Bree to accompany him. Sadly, she has been led astray by Riley who has promised to lead her to Diego, an offer she can't refuse. Fred invites both her and Diego to meet up with him the following day and Bree agrees, not realizing that her time on Earth is sadly coming to an end...

This book was wonderful. I am not a huge fan of the Twilight series, having read the series only because a friend of mine begged me to. However, with it's rich story and complex characters, not to mention a great plot, this book is irresistible. Bree Tanner is probably my favorite character in the entire series. Stephenie Meyer claims this was a writing exercise in her folder. I can only hope she decides to write more exercises and share them with the world.

If you're a true Twilight fan, you'll love this!

I loved this book! I loved getting to see the story of Bree and what it meant to be one of the "bad" vampires, or vampires that didn't act like the Cullen's. I loved the little love story Meyer fit in there (don't want to spoil anything). It was just enough to keep me wanting more. But, unfortunately, you won't get more, and you'll see why if you read. It definitely pulls at the heart strings, and makes you wish Bree didn't have to die, even though we all knew what was coming at the end. It would have been so interesting to see what would have happened if Bree didn't die and the Cullen's took her in. I loved getting to learn more about what was going on during the same time that everyone with Bella and Edward was taking place, but from the story of Bree and Victoria and the new army she was creating to destroy Bella. It was a great and quick read. I wish Meyer would make more short spin offs for the book. If you're a true Twilight fan, you will most likely love this book!

Beautifully Crafted Story for All

Breathtakingly tragic, any reader of the Twilight books will be expecting a punch at some point ... but the punch in the gut received is more than can be anticipated. Bree Tanner is the girl we can all identify with; charming and witty in spite of her fears, Bree represents a type of innocence and hope that isn't seen in any of the Twilight books. She is trapped between knowledge and ignorance, caught by her young age in a spider web of deceit and betrayal, a potentially useful tool. Her true value isn't seen even by Bree, and seeing the moment that value is recognized during a well-known scene with the Cullens is a fascinating twist of perspective. A fairly quick read for most, this book is truly a page-turner with a perfectly crafted plot and storyline to compliment and contrast with the Twilight books readers have already fallen in love with. Addictive, with a soft sigh that isn't displeasure but something more akin to, "Well, that's ... exactly as it was always meant to be," at the end. Definitely recommended for the Twilight fans as well as those who weren't big on the series - this is Bree Tanner's story, and it is unlike anything you imagine it is.

Everything you need to know to pass the National Exam

I have worked in the mortgage industry for 10 years and as a Loan Officer for the last 5. I am licensed in multiple states but never took the National Exam as I earned all four of my licenses before it was introduced (I ended up paying four 4x SAFE tests, one for each state of licensure--very expensive!). This year I wanted to add a fifth state and needed to take the National Exam in order to do so. I did not want to pay hundreds of dollars through one of the online purveyors of LO training as I've been doing this long enough that it would be a waste of my time and money. What I did want was a refresher of applicable lending laws and guidelines. As any mortgage professional can attest, the content of government mandated tests doesn't have tremendous overlap with the daily tasks associated with writing mortgages.

Patricia O'Connor's eBook was exactly what I wanted and needed. Broken down by sections covering every area of the National Exam, all of the information was clear and well-presented. As a hint for others who have been in the industry a while: the first thing I did was take one of the two practice tests located at the back of the book (passed by the skin of my teeth with a 76%). I then took note of my wrong answers and broken them down into areas of greatest need and studied those chapters specifically. That approach worked very well. I passed the National Exam with a 107 / 115 for 93%, far in excess of the required 75%

What I liked best:
1) Chapters are laid out logically and progress from topic to topic in a seamless way
2) Each chapter concludes with a practice test
3) Each chapter also includes a summary of the main points of the chapter (these are very useful for study purposes)
4) The final exams were VERY similar to the actual National Exam I took
5) The book is FULL of hyperlinks to all applicable data sources for the content of the chapters; this book really is a dictionary for mortgage lending. The research that went into it was fantastic.

What could have used improvement:
1) The "key" for scoring the tests doesn't play nicely with my kindle--the last answer to each string of twenty five questions (25, 50, 75, 100, and 125) appeared on a different page than the rest of the answer which made scoring the practice tests a bit more of a chore than it already is
2) It would be really nice to have a web-link to an online practice test that would allow for faster test taking as scoring

I would not necessarily recommend this book to someone totally new to the industry looking to pass the National Exam for the first time. You may be better off taking a more comprehensive online or live class (at 15-20x the cost of this book!). That said, if you are already reasonably knowledgeable OR have very good study habits, you could absolutely pass the National Exam using only this book, especially if you take all the practice tests at the end of each chapter and the two final exams at the back of the book. If you can pass those, you can pass the national exam. This approach will require more from you, but its totally doable if you're dedicated and take notes as you read.

For my particular purposes, the book was perfect. I did find a few small typos, but they were very rare indeed and did not take away from the quality of the book as a whole. I will be recommending this one to my fellow LOs at my office and have no problem recommending it here on Amazon as well.

As the author states in the comments section of this review, this book IS NOT a replacement for the NMLS mandated 20-hour course for those applying for a license for the first time. My situation was a little unique, and I overlooked that bit of information.

Also, regarding the sole 1-star review of this book: I encountered NO questions with wrong answers in my reading of the book or in the practice tests I took. I would ignore any comments to the contrary.

Passed the exam the first time thanks to this book!!!

I took my 20 hour pre-licensing class in the beginning of January of this year and I bought this book soon after I finished the course. I just took the national exam yesterday for the first time and I passed!! I can honestly say I learned more from this book than I did from the 20 hour course and I know for a fact I could not have passed the first time without this book. I took my time and read it twice just to make sure I understood all of the information. I think learning all of the definitions from the links in the 9th chapter before reading the rest of the book would've been better and there are a couple typos so check your answers on the quizzes in the chapter because some will say your answer is wrong when you really have it right, but other than that this book was everything I had hoped for. This book helped me so much!! I would recommend this to anyone!

Get this book if you have failed the SAFE exam

I took the SAFE MLO exam twice (and failed) before I purchased Patricia O'Connor's MLO study guide. Just a bit of a background, I have no mortgage related experience whatsoever and i thought, after the 20 hour required course, I had a decent handle on the exam. I was wrong the first time when i scored a 73 and I was wrong the second time when I scored lower at a 70. I was dumbfounded. I studied incessantly for those tests, I rewrote the material, created flashcards, etc. Obviously it didn't work. I know now that I was not clearly understanding the different regulations, which is key. Patricia's study guide is written in a way that helped me get it, finally! I recommend this book only to those that have already completed the 20-hour coursework and score low on the practice exams. In addition to the book, I was constantly taking the practice exams from the course and I fidnt take the exam until I was consistently scoring an 80 or more on the practice test. My 3rd attempt was a victory, I scored an 84. Thank you Patricia!!!
